Yo,

i have a beautiful dual gauge at the moment, (oil pressure and water temp) but alas, the mechanical water temp has stopped working!

is there an instrument specialist in Sydney that could re-gas it so it works again?

I've used him before on some VDO gauges. Isn't there also someone in the Mini Car club who has a similar business?

If you can't find someone in Sydney, post it to Howard Instruments in Heidelburg, Melbourne. They do a great job, and are Mini nuts to boot ;)

I found an old Smiths vacuum gauge at a flea market years ago.
Had it install in my Deluxe.
Unfortunately with time a piece of thin metal lining on the inside of the gauge seemed to dislodge itself and stops the indicator arrow from resting at zero.
I know this gauge is a genuine item from the late 60s.
My question is this:
1. are Smiths Vacuum gauges still sold new?
2. is it worth my while getting this fixed?

Contemplating trying to remove the bevel of mine to clean inside but don't think it is worth the risk of breaking glass, etc.

Any body had a crack at it?

Rusty, have a look at the back of the chrome bezel and see if it has a few indents in it,
if so, you should be able to turn the bezel carefully and remove it , i have done this with some other smiths gauges.

Hi Goodie,
Seems to be completely pressed all way around :( Would probably have to peel back the bezel with speacil tool to get it off?

Yeah i see what you mean Rusty, 2 choices i'd say , leave well enough alone or take it to a gauge repairer and see what they say.
