Hi guys, I am doing the final reassembly of my front subframe. And have run into a small issue :? Trying to slide the drive shafts into the pot joints and they wont slide in easy.... Do I use a rubber hammer and an assisstant to hold them steady and hit them in?
Any other ideas :?
Cheers Brett

You aren't trying to put rover shafts into leyland pots are you? There's about a 3mm interference. The shgaft should otherwise go in easily.

As Ryan is suggesting, are these inner or outer CVs? Outers have a retaining clip you need to get past, but inner (pot) CVs pretty much just slide apart...

cheers,

Jacob

Are you trying to insert the drive shaft into the ball carrier (or whatever it's called - star shaped thing), or do you already have that assembled, and are trying to insert the carrier and the balls into the pot?

ditto - should slide right in

I'd suggest wiping the grease off and having a good look at it

That is what I am starting to think. There is a 1" steel shaft between the diff housing and the Pot joint. :? Working at midnight trying to make it all fit....

Rubber mallet, block of wood, or similar will work to knock it in further. If you have the axle assembled in the pot joint, you should be able to shove the axle at the diff and it should pop in.

Just make sure they are lined up straight as your trying to knock them in. If they aren't going in without too much effort then take it out, have a peek to make sure there aren't any problems with the shaft/circlip etc and then try again.
