In my recently purchased mini I have a heater, heater cable... but (as I have not had a heater before) I don't know how to connect the cable to the heater connection. Nothing else came with it.

What do I need to connect the 2 ?

Are you talking about the electrical side, coolant side or the heater tap cable? What type of mini heater is it?

I am unfamiliar with the other heaters but mine is a rectangle metal box - located in the left side of the engine bay.

Air comes in from the front of the car and a little arm controls whether the air bypasses the heater core or goes through it.

A heater cable runs from the cabin into the engine bay. That cable (I expect) is connected to the arm - which allows you to bypass the heater.

The cable looks like a throttle cable.
The arm is a solid little metal bar.

Does anyone have photos of such a heater connection?

Yep. JTR you aren't missing anything except the cable with the coiled end. It just slips over the end of the flap actuating rod.

Excellent. Now I am trying to find that part.

If anyone knows where and what it is that would be appreciated... else I am looking now.

JTR850, i tried to connect that when I owned the car but the cable was seized and the heater itself was very very tight. so never bothered. May just need a good grease and a new cable.
Cheers
J

Well that's the thing. I purchased a new heater cable (mk1) but it didn't come with the "coil" end. It was like a standard throttle cable.

I have looked on a few parts sites and haven't been able to find a cable with the coil or the "coil" seperately.

The cable that you have purchased is incorrect, it will be the cable for a "S" heater tap. The cable you require is unique to the under bonnet type heater and is not available new. I should have a couple of S/H cables here, but let me check first.
