Does any one have any Photo's of cars painted Tartan Red. Thinking of painting our car that colour just not sure how dark the red will be.

I could be wrong but if you click on the link below to the Vic minishow pics and scroll down to the 12th photo of a Brittish Cooper S with white wheels and black roof, it looks to me what I think is Tartan red. Sorry if this doesn't help.

Thanks, for the Photo's. Thought it may have been a darker Red.
I think there is a Leyland Tartan red as well as a Rover Tartan red.
By what I have been able to find out the leyland is the Darker one.
Any comments would be welcome. But please keep them nice.

Not a great photo since it's all dirty and such, but my Countryman is Tartan Red. Probably best to look only at the guard.

Anyone else think that the early 60s reds were the best ones? Tartan red, Champion Red, Carnation Red, etc.

The later reds were all orange/reds or fade really quick reds.

I was told when i was an apprentice that the reason that the older ones lasted better as because they had more lead in the paint (the reds and yellows) and when they started taking the lead out the small fading problemthat existed became a much worse one.
Dunno if its true, but I haven't heard otherwise. :D
