After Steve and I played about with spare coils and plugs this morning, the gremlin has now been exorcised by the usual method. WD40....
The GT40R coil is still fine- and it stays cold.

Problem was just very fine water condensation droplets inside the dizzy cap...
Mr NRMA Road Service had wiped it out and blown air at it, but it needed the usual winter antidote in the blue & yellow can.
Spray>wipe>spray>shake.

Always a problem with old age - hey Doc?

Personally I like to leave it out to dry but usually forget about it until the wife says "Will you put that thing away!"
