My gear stick constantly rattles and makes a terrible noise. I have replaced the bush that sits underneath the stick but that didn't fix the problem.

It is a matter of a worn remote/selector etc and I just need to replace the whole unit? or is there something else to look at?

Ryan

I did read somewhere a while ago that one of our local suppliers has a teflon bush that goes inside the remote shifter to sort it, but that only works if the complete remote unit is not too worn. There is a grease nipple on the front end of it, you can pump it with grease and that'll help for a little while.

PM sent.

with the engine off, push up on down on the stick. I'm thinking the Rubber mount at the end of the remote may need replacing

Can also be worth checking you don't have a mis-match of parts, there were a few different ways of retaining the lever & the dampening on the end, if the bits get mixed up it can sometimes never be right :?

cheers

I just cut a bit of rubber and used it as a big washer
Stopped the shake and the metallic banging sound
