Thanks all for the research and the info.
I purchased a new Suzuki swift alternator as the 2nd hand ones are now getting old.
Shaved about 5mm of the bracket and fitted up all very neat.

I now need to find a better way of fitting the tensioner bracket.

Probably the same place as a Pot Joint

But I think NG means a Rod End.

And if you get a left hand thread on one of them it would be real easy to adjust. (The left hand threads were about 3 times the price when I used to get them a long time ago!)

yeah.... wouldn't it be a bit hard to tension it unless you do have a left hand thread on one end...

Just be aware that the one I posted is a random photo off the net. It could be made from brass and not very strong.
It would be designed for use in tension and not designed for use in compression so it really may not be very good for an alternator bracket. It does give you some ideas though!

But it does look nice! :lol:

You would also want a nut on each end to lock it, otherwise it would wind on in again
