Hi everyone, regarding paint for respraying your car, is there a paint code somewhere on the car, or do you get the colour from Leylands paint codes just choosing which colour is the one like your own. My car is a brown colour and from Leylands 1978 colours, there are only 3 browns, Maple, Russet and Sienna.

cheers

Jethro

If you have a brown 78, it would be Oh Fudge!

I can get the code off the sticker on my car if no one else has it.
Most paint shops should have a database and may be able to look it up for you.

VG AutoPaints in Sydney had gambier turquoise in their database, aswell as the rest of the leyland/morris range

Where did you get those paint names? They are not Australian colours.

The 1978 Australian brown was "Sam Brown"

"Oh Fudge" was earlier.

Did oh fudge end in 77?

My 77 is 3/77 and has the Oh Fudge! Dulon sticker

Hi Morris 1100, I just searched Leyland paint codes and the colour charts came up from 60 odd to 78 and I thought one of those would be mine, not thinking they may have different colours here in Oz. Obviously they do as you would know more about it than myself. So an auto paint shop may have the Leyland colours in their database? You reckon my colour is "Sam Brown"?

I am not sure of when the change was made. I know it was somewhere in 77/78.
Better order a tin of each just to be certain.

Hi Jethro, most of the stuff on the net is for the English Minis and does not apply to our cars.
I think it would be Sam Brown but it just might be Oh Fudge.

Thanks guys, I have looked on the net at Oz paint codes, but like Wombat says, they only go up to 1975. My car is 8/78, but I`ll work it out.

I am sure it will be Sam Brown.

There is a bloke on the forum called Brown Clubman. He restored an Oh Fudge car but he also owned a Sam Brown Mini. Maybe he could help as he is the brown Mini expert.

Jethro - I tend to agree with others here that being a 78 model, yours is most likely Sam Brown - but anythings possible.
