hi all, ive had a bit of an idling/tuning issue with my spi rover

over the last 2 weeks, my car has stalled 3 times.. (when hot and cold) while idling, if i push the accelerator to try and keep revs up and keep the car idling it doesnt rev like normal, it kind of maintains to a level but continually tries to die.

it continues to do this even when restarted untill i drive off.. then the car works like normal (even when stopped and idling)

any ideas ?

Thanks,

Nick

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak between the manifold and computer.
Mine was doing the exact same thing a few weeks ago, but it needed 5 minutes after it stalled to restart and that was a PITA.

Check the hoses at the back of the inlet manifold near the firewall.

Check that whatever is blanking off your red vacuum line is still there, since it should be given you have a pod filter.

If I remember correctly I had a screw in the end of the hose (which was cable tied to the firewall), it may have fallen out or come lose with all the front end work you had done after the acco.

The engines get a bit tempermental occasionly but are generally straight forward to sort out for issues, if you identify what it is.
There's a couple of people hiding in Vic with tuning computers if need be.

Hi,

check the vacuum hoses in particular the one going from the inlet to a fuel trap and then to the ECU. They tend to block causing bad idling/running.

cheers
Luis
