I have purchased from UK suppliers over the past 2 years and find I have only been charged GST and import tax if the items are quite a bit over the $1000Aus amount.
For small variations of $50 or $100 I have so far been lucky.
When I was way over the $1000 Aus I have only paid GST and import duty on the amount over the limit.
I also ask the suppliers to mark the parts as required for restoration of 30 year old car,

Good luck

I know this is an old post, but I got a set of Heavy Duty Adjustable Lower Control Arms from them received them within 10 days. Postage was a bit high I thought, in saying that I didn't realise they were 3kgs. Was a total of 92 pds 42 pds was postage. Was the first time I had dealt with Minisport, always bought from Minispares but they didn't have the product I was after. Was very impressed and would recommend them.
I'll still get local where viable.

Andy

I've bought a few things from there, including a set of brakes. They've been pretty helpful and shipping has been quick as long as they have the parts in stock (I had to wait for some parts to arrive to them). I've had to pay duty and GST when it was a fair bit over $1000 and they include postage in that calculation. Another place was helpful enough to leave postage off the main invoice and send it to me in a seperate letter, this kept the visible total under $1000. They're generally pretty helpful if you ask nicely.

Just make really really really sure they have what you want actually in stock before handing over any money.

(watching the rules closely....)

I have to say minisports parts can be of dubious quality, as your shiping to the other side me the globe you might want to consider that. I'd always use minispares over minisport.

I bought my disc brakes from minisport in the uk
along with alot of other stuff over the last couple of years.
They're service is great they get things out promptly.
They cost my 1030 and customs smashed me with tax the asses.
I've learnt my lesson now and don't order things over a grand cause it'd be cheaper to buy it here once customs slam you

Hope to see them tomorrow. :)
I am going to the mini's at Gaydon show and hopefully some of the mini suppliers will be there
If not I will try and visit them over the next few weeks during my travel around the UK
Do you want me to pass on any feedback from their Aussie customers?

As I found out yesterday it pays to price stuff here first. That UK bargain may not be one when freight is added.. particularly on small stuff like suspension arms and timing belts.
I got ripped £40 UPS on top of a total £49 order from Minispares.

you've gotta order bigger for express to be worth it. I would've chucked a few things in with your order If id known, and it would've made it so much more worth while Kev

As a general rule I never order anything OS unless its around the $500 plus mark over there for us.
