Having noticed a slight fuel smell from inside my car I have started working back from the carby. One rubber hose had split so to b safe I replaced all rubber hoses in the system and also put in two filters One b4 the pump & one after.

Beneath my car where the copper ? fuel line runs looks like it has absorbed some fuel whether this is from the line directly or from fuel traveling down from the rubber hose I am yet to find out. I'm thinking a good way to check this would be have the line loosish while the cars running & look for leaks / use some soapy water. Ideas?

Also my cork gasket isn't split but looks like this

Should I use a bit of gasket goo to help seal it properly? Or just get a newy?

Get a NEW one, that one looks past it. It's probably as old as you are.
