hey look,,, i`m not going to pick on anyone in particular here,,, But for sh!!TTs sake, that car is worth nearly Twice that

well done Andrew, if i`d have seen it i would have bought it for sure

when are all you "other" stingeytightar$edidiots going to grow up & learn that this sort of equipment (1275 donk, discs & twin 1&1/2 sus & genuine RH tank) all in running condition are worth good money,,, for the last few years all i`ve been hearing & reading on this forum is that they`re cheap & avaliable everywhere,,, oh yeah for sure --> NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I`m sick of hearing all that crap

that stuff is hard to find & costs a pretty penny, simple as that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
& proof is that a mini business has just paid (what i think) is not alot of money for it all & then had to pay to get it down south

wake up people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

+1 - remember that while ausmini might have a good system of barter and trade system, the retail value of many of the parts that are most in demand is still very high and people will pay it, even if you won't.

The car looks well loved (until the crash). Presumably the 1275 is in good condition. With a quick once over and a few new bits it'll be worth $3500 EASILY - to someone who wants a recon 1275 right then and there. As was discussed on the RIP Northern Mini Parts thread a company which does a user friendly website can charge a premium for their products. I'm lazy - so are most people. Sometimes I can't afford the convenience buying from Minisport, sometimes I can. If I was looking for a 1275 freighted to my garage door I'd probably go the easy route rather than cobbling it together over 6 months. I expect they'll make money on this salvage and so they should.

Whilst the top ball joint is broken, I do not think you could say this 'caused' the accident- as many other items are broken too

WELL WELL WELL... small world aye... I don't know why I didn't see it before. I know this car. I also know the owner. I also know what happened. I also have worked on this car  I just never put to and to together and gave it much thought... It lived in the same complex as one of my mates... arhhh well so who wants to know the story of what happened???

My mate and I got talking about the mini in his complex this morning, and where it had gotten to after the "crash" and then it clicked.. I never got to see the damage after the crash, but the owner told me how bad it was etc, and when this poped up I never really gave it much thought to this being the same car...

The accelerator cable for those twin carbies is and was mine  on a long term loan... haha can I have it back now Andrew?

I also no how much the insurance company gave the owner, and well blah blah the whole story..

So who wants to kno? :D

I would agree-if you look closer at the cable, you can actual see that it is the incorrect cable for a Clubman. It looks as though it's a cable from a roundnose, this would and could cause all sorts of issues

har har!

That throttle cable has been on the car now for just over a yr,, somehow I don't think it was the cause...

It's actually just a aftermarket one from the parts shop, and cut to length..

Well i would have thought more people are wanting to know what happened than this,, but anyway....

If I was to say it was a Red P plater with very little experience with mini's would this give you a clue?

No, it gives no clue.
Just sounds like a bad sterotype.

OK, sorry mate, just having a dig

Since it wan't the throttle cable, next most likely was the nut behind the wheel.

Then he smashed it.

On Red Ps.

Shame, it looked like it was once a nice mini. One less now.
