Well i managed to hit a kangaroo (approx 40kg) on the highway 60kms out of Coober Pedy with the Clubman... and smash the front end of the brick up... (pictures to come).
Managed to drive slowly into town safely with one light but the front end is pretty bad.

My question is will my subframes/steering/motor out of the Clubman bolt up into a moke shell or do they have different subframes?

Im going to have a look at a shell tomorrow that a mates neighbour has in his yard...

Sorry to read of your encounter, bummer.

There were slight differences in the big wheel moke subframes to that of a mini, but even so, they will bolt up OK. If big wheel, you'll need to change the trailing arms of the rear subframe.

Again, if it's a big wheel moke, engine and gearbox will go in no worries, but you'll want to change the diff ration to somewhere around 4.1 or 4.2:1. One from a Morris 1100 will get you out of gaol.

Or you can run mini-sized wheels and accept the moke looking a bit under-tyred.

Basically the only that thing that differs mechanically from a moke to a mini is:

66/67: Only real difference is the pedal box
68 onwards: Pedal Box and rear trailing arms are changed to accomodate 13" wheels.


If you plan to effectively reshell your mini into the moke you won't have any issues. Provided you keep the 10" wheels.

If you want to upgrade to 13" wheels, you'll need to track down some big wheel moke trailing arms. Which are hard to come by.



As for big wheel mokes with small wheels, just take a look at kyoda's moke

Sumanovic never told us what sort of Moke shell he has available. Could be little-wheeler after all.

In any case, keeping the 10" wheels will keep it feeling like a Mini in the driving dynamics. Big wheelers don't feel the same.

And yes, Kyoda's Moke is HAWT.

Hey sorry for no reply, was out working for the last week or so.

So i found one shell, which wasnt for sale, but found another not far in a close by town, its a big wheeler moke that has been sitting in the weather in a junk yard, still has motor in it with head removed and some rust.

Bought it for $500 now just organising to pick it up

Have to go shoot for another week but when i get back to Coober will be stripping the clubman and getting the moke ready for paint!

Should hopefuly be a quick reshell
