who has a flip front on their mini ?

is it steel, CF or FB ?

what hinges did you use?

what locking mechanism did you use ?

im aiming for my front end to be as solid and to work like this.. (including internal bonnet release) any info would be useful

I must say I do like that.
Seems straight forward, the hinges appear to be off some 70s yank tank, and the latch mechanism at the front is probably similar to a door catch or boot release setup that has the double lock setup.

Its a steel front so would be as solid s you get. You could still make that work as fibreglass or carbon, but keeping its strength in the hinge areas and catch point would be tricky if theres a lack of space.

I reckon if you can attach add some bracing bars underneath from the bulkhead to the front of the frame you would be better off for an engineer.
Or you could have a big gusset of 3-4mm thick steel from the tower to the front corner, around the radiator and clutch housing. Would make any work a bit tight though.

Thats a nice set up.
The hinges look like those on the boot of a mazda 121 bubble, they pop the boot lid up a bit then it backflips over about 100 degrees.

I really like that..nice and smooth and it clicks when in position.
I'm also thinking once the lights are in it will role come down a little quicker

The hinges is called a "4 bar link" and common on sedan deck lids... and some hoods too (Jaguars?).

If I was to do that I would look at hood hinges as they (Sometimes) have a catcher that stops the hood raising up and through the wind screen in a frontal impact...
