..and my Dad years ago on his Mini (if my memory serves me correctly) had two drivers door handles, keyed alike, so he could lock and unlock with the key on both sides of the car.

Don't ask me how he did that. He was a Body Hardware Engineer at BMC so he seemed to be able to do whatever he wanted when it came to modifiing door & window mechanisms.

In the mid 70's he fitted a electric window to the rear offside door of his 1955 Morris Oxford because it was the only one he couldn't reach from the drivers seat in traffic.

I think they used them on some jags too, well, thats what the guy who i got the door for my car from said, the door ended up being stuffed so he might of been lieing

If you want to do the same its straight forward enough: take two handles with locks to your local locksmith and get them to sort put new locks in them the same (may as well do the boot lid too), then just reinstall back into the car as normal, only difference is just unscrew the lock slider on the passengers door.

They were only used on the Morris 1500/1300 and the Minis.
They were designed and made in Australia and not used on anything else.
