I have a 3 guage set up in Merlin and the centre guage (temp and petrol) is broken. I heard that these cant be replaced? or there is no parts or something?

ANyone else have this problem in the past?

Don't mean to hijack sourceress,

My fuel gauge reads:
middle when full
full when empty, and
empty when off.

How stuffed is it?

check the printed circuit carfully there may be a break in one of the wires then carfully solder together if u find one , a broken wire can cause that too :)

could also be that the float in the tank (that moves up and down on the sender unit) is bent or malfunctioning. Sometimes all that is needed is to drain the tank, remove the sender and float and bend the wire the float sits on up a little bit. Mine did a similar thing and this trick seems to have worked.

Avoid soldering the printed circuit board if you can, unless you are really good at it. It's really easy to melt the plastic. What's even better is to get a conductive pen (from Dick Smiths) and use that. Does the same thing, except no heat, and it's easy as drawing with a pen. Just remember to LIGHTLY scrape away at each end of the broken connection to ensure clean contact (sometimes it has a clear coating).

I want to remake the PCB on my triple gauge set, using new plastic and redrawing it all with a conductive pen.

Last year in electronics we were shown how to do printed circuits it is pretty easy when u have the resources but yeah conductive pen the plastic would shrivel up using a soldering iron, not good lol :D

umm
very
;)

well, after my first BIG trip in the van, all day trip to Perth and back, everything went pretty good except that my fuel guage doesnt work and I ran out of fuel on 3 lane Leach Hwy, on a section that had humungus nasty kerbs that I could no way get up and over. so here we were, my two grown kids pushing the van for about 300m down Leach Hwy on a Thursday afternoon

Ive done the reading, will pull the tank out and see if I can fix it over the weekend :)

I think my problem was that the gauge was built for positive earth,
so it reads backwards.
