Which is a good socket to have if you own a mini as it also fits disc brake hub nuts, steering wheel retainer nut, and varoius engine ones you'll probably never need.

Check your hub nut size, before buying a 1-5/16" socket.
Recent ones are made from 34mm hex bar. If this includes yours I'd buy a 34mm socket instead. It will still fit your steering wheel, crank pulley bolt and camshaft nut. :wink:

Bloody hard to find in the local shops when i looked, most places stopped at 1 inch in Imperial measures.

You can get the right sockets in real tool shops, or truck stores.

Also on a bit of a side note, i'm doing this to get the steering rack out, how do you go at getting the crappy snap bolts off the column bracket!?

do you need to loosen off both top bolts..... To get the steering rack out?

On the Rover the passanger side bolt is a %@# to get at!!!!

Vice Grips? Christ thats rough.

Beanie is talking about the conical `security nut' on the top column bolt, not the steering wheel nut.
I cut a flat on it first to give a grip.
I didn't bother fitting another funny nut, I used a real one. :wink:
