Not seen that before, but I doubt they will go 152mph, aero is a real killer, I think power has to go up to the square of drag or something, then, even if you have the power you have to put it down, salt is quite slippery! I went to Lake Gairdner in SA for Speedweek in 2010, awesome place!

I recall Mini Mania ran a car at Boneville a few years back, I think it was a good ($$$) attempt, but only got to 124 or something, the brick just hits the 'wall'

It's one thing to be told there is an embargo on the story and that the public announcement is 10 September, but another thing when other newspapers or magazines release the story early.

Oh well, another one we got foxed on.

More of the story in the next issue of TME, due out in about 4 weeks.

Cheers,
Watto.

GR also quotes the figure of 123 (mph), however I know the supers here top 200 kph, so I think there's room for debate. The 212 target may be in a class where the full on aero is allowed in which case it sounds well within reach.

However sounds like Watto already knows.....so I guess it's "watch this space " 8)

There is video of GR's group Nb (historic) with telemetry showing 201kph - that's the 123mph. 8300rpm I think.

I'd love to see the maths of how much HP it takes to get 1 MPH once you're up around that speed. The air gets very hard to push through...

looking forward to reading the article Watto ;)

The top speed is probably higher at Bonneville than at Lake Gairdner due to the altitude.
But a motor will make more HP at Lake Gairdner than at Bonneville (but the supercharger will fix that!)

Hey, I hope they do it, they certainly have thought it through, the class systems are imense and choosing a 1000cc class is probably a good idea.

The motor spec is impressive, they should have plenty of power!

Poeee (remember him? ) was talking about building a 1000cc car for Gairdner a while ago, but he's gone and got married an stuff!!

Go Kiwis I say, good luck to em!

Look forward to reading all about it in TME!

Cheers! :P

Looks like a bracing plate to the cage with holes, not the pillar..

Good luck to them,
Hope it all goes well.
Here's the aerodynamics of a mini going full pelt at the end of
Eastern Creek raceway.

They might be bad, but a Moke is far worse... :P
