Was wondering did all mini vans come from the factory with the magic wand style gearshift, my 71 morris has the hole for the remote style shift, not thinking of changing back. Was just wondering if there was a change over period

well,,, there`s actually 2 types of magic want g/stick systems fitted to the vans (pre rod-change that is) Edit--> just to clarify, yes the vans got the rod-change

one was the original puddin stirrer (aka 850 type)

& then later-on they got the (almost the same as moke type ("S" bent type) with the big tin plate bolted onto the diff housing where the remote would normally go,,, this system came in with the introduction of the 4-syncro boxes

i have never seen a factory fitted Van remote system, but that`s not to say it was never done, just don`t see it being a factory fitted happening

AFAIK, vans never got a `remote shift' until the rodchange box came in.

I put a remote in mine, I like the change better and it offers a bit more support to the 1360 engine. Had to change the diff housing.
