Has anyone tried the Toyo Proxes R888 ?
Have heard they are a great tyre, even better than the Yoko A048R but they are limited in the sizes available in 13"
http://www.toyotires.com.au/_webapp_1075313/Proxes_R888Specifically I was thinking of the 225/45R13 on my 13x7" rims.
Trouble is, they are 5.5% bigger rolling diameter than the 175/50R13 Yokohamas I'm running now, and that would undo most of the benifts of the diff change we've just done (went from a 3.44 to a 3.67).
I have run R888s on my MX-5 and done several track days with them. They are great because they are excellent value and don't have as bad harmonic drone/rumble as the A032 but I wouldn't class them as better than the Yokos or Dunlops. They can't quite pull the same lap times on MX-5s (205-50-15 size) but are significanly cheaper. As with the others there are multiple compounds. The ones I had were the normal compound not the super-soft so they warmed up nicely on QR without getting squishy. Would be too hard for good sprint/hill-climb times. I was only racing myself/the clock so cheap was good! Like all tyres in Aus they are about 30-40% overpriced here than when bought in the USA or Japan. I would love it if they came in a 10" size but they don't.
