Why not go one better than a dizzy?

Have any of yopu had a look at using an electronic module?

Have a look at Red 850' s turbo engine. There is no dizzy!

He is using a Ford Mondeo electronic set up.

Rissole.

no he's not, he's using a megajolt, which uses the EDIS module from a mondeo to fire the mondeo coil, but the megajolt does the smarts ;)

I set mine up on the weekend - there's a separate thread for it... more expensive and more difficult than a pulsar dizzy tho

I left the Pulsar dizzy in my 1360, the 1412 stroker is running a Lucas 43D with a Britparts module. Coil is now my old Bosch GT40-T.
It works just fine... :P
Pulls like a train so the advance curve mustn't be too far off.

[edit] Stroker is now running a recurved Nissan Pulsar dizzy, and it has more grunt right through the rpm range.

I have this set up (pulsar) on my 1310 7 port but the engine isnt in the car yet (almost ready) and cant wait to try it all out.

I also used the holden barina alternator and toyota cressida high torque starter

two thumbs up from me.

Vacuum advance can work on cammed Weber engines, I was running split Webers and a 288 low lift rally cam and had two tiny barbs welded to my Maniflow inlets and ran that to the dizzy and it definately made a difference to the timing if you connected/disconnected it while idling.

If the Weber produces a super pulsy vacuum supply you just need a small canister connected in line which will act as a damper.

To see if your advance mech is fluttering with a Weber put your timing light on the coil wire and check it with the vac line connected and disconnected, don't do it for long as you can burn the timing light globe out as they aren't rated for that use.

I had a Mini Vac advance dizzy with a Crane CDI unit and a modded advance curve to suit the cam, it all worked well until you wanted to listen to the radio.

Please note that my pics in this thread will disappear soon as I am changing ISP from Exetel to Bigpond cable.
When I find somewhere to re-host them all, I will edit the pic links.
