Hi!

I received a very interessting e-mail. The question now is; was there a company in Australia or NZ that made 12" Rosepetals, supposedly in the 60's?

The spokes on these look a fair deal chunkier than the original CCC 12" Rosepetal wheels.

Any hints welcome!

Cheers,
Jan

I can't recall seeing any in the Australian magazines of the time.

Did any minis anywhere in the world have 12" wheels in the 60s?
I thought that didn't happen till the 70s.

So if anyone was making them they might have been for another car?
:?

I think they started using them in racing in about 69/70.

Ofcourse: Morris 1100s had 12" wheels......didn't they?
Maybe they were made for them originally.

Morris 1100 wheels have a very different offset and stud pattern. Not related to Mini at all.

In racing they started to get lower profile racing tyres and they needed bigger wheels to keep the overall diameter the same so they started running 12" tyres and wheels.

Correct! Britax and CCC come to mind as the first who started using 12" wheels in racing.

Of course they were not std. fitment at the time :)

No they were never made in Aus, they were made directly by Cooper car co and were first fitted on the britax, they were also seen on the Equipe Arden and special tuning cars. They were only a very few sets made. The jap copies are quite different and only come in 6" opposed to 8" as origional.
