i also feel funny about this

free parts in itself i don't mind, hell if anyone wants some cast manifolds, clutch plates etc come and get em

Nobody should expect a freebie. If the person "selling" it to you couldn't be bothered asking for a price then great, chalk it up as a win, but don't run around thinking it'll be the norm.

Think of it like when you're out to dinner with friends and someone decides to take the bill and refuses to let you pay for it. Score! But you don't sit down to dinner with someone and ask them to pay for the whole lot as you're about to pop your first bite into your mouth.

Also, it's civilised to then go to dinner a week later and pay the whole bill as compensation. JUST LIKE A ROUND AT THE PUB.

Pretty simple, I'd have thought. Basic quid pro quo.

I think its different to ASK for something for free vs someone OFFER something for free.

Lots and lots of us 'give' parts to others, etc etc... but someone just merely coming out and ASKING for it from someone they dont really know would be very different.

Heck, I have no quams asking for stuff for free from the people I know and who know me, but then again, I have given stuff to them free too... actually some stuff I WISH I kept now

All swings and roundabouts - Doogie, no problem with saying "No, are you serious" either. Some people dont realise that they are being rude (I dont agree with that but I think some people are of the belief that if you dont ask you wont get")
Depends on your situation though.

Cheers,
Peter

If someone gives you something for free because you needed it, then it's a gift. You shouldn't ever sell a gift. Of course if you then realise you no longer need it I think it's fine to pass it on to someone else who needs it too, but not for personal gain.

I'd love to see posts with people chasing free parts banned, unless it's a special circumstance. Posting it up on a forum is pretty lazy & a tad rude.

How hard is it to put up a WTB, say you don't have much $$ or even offer a case of beer instead ?

Give free and you shall receive free.... don't expect nor ask for it free.

i give bits -n- pieces to pretty-well everyone who deals with me, so over the years & years you can imagine what i have given away,,, & if you can`t imagine then too bad

I remember a year or 2 ago, giving some bits to ballistic,,, he was stuck, had a crash up here & needed some help, i threw him what he needed, got him goin again & all was good, he thanked me many times & advertised the fact on here that i`d helped him & all is good

i fell for people like Ty, who happilly help people out, such a damn good HEARTED FELLA HE IS & THERE ARE NOT MANY PEOPLE LIKE HIM ANYMORE , GOOD ON YOU BRO,,, BUT THEN THOSE MONGRELS GO & MAKE MONEY OFF HIS KIND-HEARTED-NESS

YOU PEOPLE SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

grow up,,, learn to have some respect & if you get stuff for free,,, from anyone,,, then let it be known that you appreciate their help & kind-hearted-ness

& if you don`t use the part, then help someone else out & pass the goodness on... or give the stuff back
