I feel exactly the same way but believe me it really sucks when you self insure - get hit from behind - a no fault situation [if you were covered] - but have to pay all your own costs because their insurance will not pay up unless you force them to in court and they screw you for all their clients costs to the point of debt collectors bashing on your door and just say take it to court if you don't like it.

So the choice is yours, pay 10 grand ito the lawers of 6 grand to the vultures. let the fun begin - and remember none of this will be your fault - your just the walking wallet.

You could always just leave the car in the shed. but where is the point in that?

You can insure 3rd party fire and theft. This is a cheap way to insure, however, the downside is that you loose if you are responsible for the accident. approx $150 a year depending on your area.

Yep that's what I do now. Least they get the smallest amount possible from me and I just have to worry about what I bump into. But I still resent "Having" to pay the leaches anything.

I cant even get any type of insurance through a normal insurance company, i would like to have it insured so if i at least hit some 1, I dont have to pay. But as i said b4 all the major companies have said NO.

And yeah the car sits in the shed 90% of the time anyway.

I might be shot down for this but who cares..

I think not having any insurance at all is irresponsible...

Think about the poor person or family out there that you may hit and innocently write off their car (or worse) and they have to fight you in court to get a penny out of you that they may rightfully deserve...

Everyone should at least have 3rd party..

I agree with u totaly, b4 i modified the car it always had 3rd party property. But now thats modified, i dont wanna pay big dollars through a specialist insurance company just to cover the cost of some 1 elses car. The car gets driven for maybe an hour every 1-2 months, so its not like its on the road all the time.

I will bet now that if you are pursued by an insurance company they will get your money. The only way to avoid that situatation is to own nothing and have no job, in other words be a pauper. Even if you receive unemployment benfits they will get money out of you.

If i damaged some 1's car.. I would take responsiblity for it and pay for it. Thats the only way an insurance company would get my money.

you miss the point - we are taking when they prang into you, completely their fault - you are blameless - YOU ARE SCREWED - YOU PAY. Welcome to the real world.

WAKE UP HANRA!!!!!

The best thing about a forum like this is the experienced, wise people around you can learn off - and it's free!! Where else could you go and get a variety of good free advice??
It saddens and disturbs me that someone could recieve so much good advice and still miss the point (a point they should really know anyway).

Plain and simple. If you drive anywhere, any time, even once a month for 2 minutes, and you aren't insured YOU ARE A MORON. You are actually worse than a moron, you are inconsiderate and ignorant.

Insurance is not an option, it is a running expense. If you can't afford/justify the money, then you can't afford to run a car. Ride a damn bike or catch the bus. The sooner they make insurance compulsory in this country, the better.

Don't think it happens?? I can tell you right now, it does. My best mate and his brother were out driving, my mate was behind the wheel, but was the brothers car. Got run into by a dickhead on a motorbike who was racing another motorbike doing well over 100km in a 60 zone. His brother had only had the car 2 days and hadn't organised the insurance yet. This was around six years ago and he's still paying off the bike and the car that the bike pushed him into. His fault but not his fault if you know what I mean. Who do you think got screwed? The guy that had the insurance company on his side in court or the un-insured sucker?? :(

All that only takes into account the inconvenience to you. How about the poor person you run into and write off their car? They have to fight to get their money and go through a whole heap of heartache and despair just because you "can't justify the money" ? Grow up. :x

Don't get the wrong impression - I hate insurance companies too. In fact I hate any business that can charge whatever the hell they like just because we all need them (ie, banks, phone companies etc etc.) But they are a necessary evil.
