Is there any clues to the original paint colour? It would have had a foil sticker with the paint colour stuck to the firewall near the master cylinders.

The original motor should have ports in the front of the cylinder head for air injection. (little screwed in plugs next to the spark plugs)
The yanks wanted the full emissions gear that we never got till later.

It's got the right head by the looks.
The radiator should be larger, the same as a M1100 I think.
I can't tell by the pick but the tank looks mini sized.

Motor probably has mods- someone has fitted the Cooper S extra head stud and front bolt (or a stud, pic is out of focus)..

Original radiator was mini sized (not M1100) but had a square shaped top tank and I think the inlet was at the back, near the cap. Looking at the top bracket and the engine steady, its been changed at some point.

Nice – rare – find there! These were stronger than 'ordinary' Mokes, but also heavier.

Looks like yours has been repainted at some point.

They were exported, even to the US, however only in very, very low numbers.

Body No. and Engine Nos., fitted were;-

YJBAB13R/***……12YG / U / H / *****

YJBAB14R/***……12YG / U/ H / *****

030COB1M12/****…..1204 / *****

The YJBAB12L or 13L or 14L were left hand drive.

To bring out the Engine Number try Deoxidine (phosphoric acid). This will bring it out even if the number has been shaved off but as long as not too much metal has gone.

None of these were ever factory fitted with the Air Pump anti-pollution set up.

Yours does have the correct Air Filter Case, but it appears that it has a non-original Alternator.

They did have Steel Universal Joints on the drive shafts, same as Cooper S.

There was two different radiators fitted, an early one and a later type. They were unique radiator to this model, though very similar to a Mini one. Fans were the stock steel 16 blader, but they could be ordered with a steel 6 blade type too.
