Anyone know were I can get the block and oil filter head nipples for a late model A+ engine to take standard Cooper S style oil cooler hoses?
The block thread (which is the same as the filter head) looks to be 11/16 with 20TPI, which is larger than the early A+ engines.

So who has fitted an oil cooler to a late model A+ block with the larger threads?
What nipples or hoses were used???

Yes the threads are 11/16" UNF.
Mini Spares does a hose kit from block to filter with fittings, but I can't see the fittings listed separately. :x

Somerford list some hoses which have the nipple incorperated into the hose, but they are long ones for a Clubman - no seperate nipples.

If you want to use S hoses or similar (the usual 1/2" BSP flare fitting) I can screwcut brass ones, but I would need to find an 11/16" UNF nut to fit them to.. it's not a real common size.
Or, I buy an 11/16" UNF dienut. Much faster process, IF I can find one.

Found a tap at Chronos in the UK.
11/16 UNF, but not sure of the TPI to confirm the thread.

Tap is no good, I need a die, to cut external threads.
I will try Graham Macdonald's tomorrow.

UNF is UNF, thats what was the old American SAE fine thread. Only 1 pitch per size, unlike metric threads. UNC is their coarse pitch one.

Here's one-

My mistake,
They have a "11/16 UNF Carbon Die (Ref: 1116UNFD)" for 20 pounds.

That one I listed above is cheaper, freight is very cheap too.
If you buy me a die, I will make you 2 brass fittings 1/2" BSP-11/16 UNF for $20/pr, + post.
Just to get you out of trouble...

OK the plot thickens...
According to Graham McDonald Services, 11/16" x 20tpi is NOT UNF, it is UNS (ie special).
A die is available, $109.00 +GST.
Dienut is unavailable..

11/16" UNF thread is 16TPI, not 20.

As you only want 4 fittings made it's hardly worth spending $119.90 on a die, IMO. Once the lathe is set up I can screwcut them.
Unless we can get a die cheaper on the web.. I'll have another look.

I wonder what possessed Rover to use such an obscure thread- surely Metric would have made more sense if they really had to change it!!
