Hi all,

I am going to use my mini and an old dodge Phoenix for my wedding in November.

I was wondering where you buy that white ribbon for the bonnet, and whether you have to put anything on the rear parcel shelf and if so, what is it??

Andrew

When we got married one of my wife's friends just picked up a roll of fat ribbon from spotlight, you use a surprisingly large amount of it :)

Why do you need something on the parcel shelf?

....either that or you can buy it specifically packaged for wedding cars, don't know where but maybe spotlight also.

Years ago my brother forgot to get some for his wedding cars.

Last minute solution... a roll of receipt paper donated from a generous shop.

Doesn't matter where you get it, but get cotton ribbon. The cheaper nylon ribbon will mark the paint where it rubs - and it will rub with the wind blowing it as you drive.

Thanks for the replies.

I might have a look at spotlight.

Thanks for the tip VicMini13, I'll keep that in mind.

The " netting ", is called " Tule " ( don't quote me on the spelling ) , you should be able to get it at Spotlight as well.
Also don't ask me how i know this :!:  ( wife used to own a craft shop ).

If you're going to have passengers (flower girl, page boy etc) in your Mini please make sure you thoroughly clean the door latches etc.

Nothing worse than a lovely white dress getting grease on it from a grubby door. :D :D

Although not directly related, I was talking to a chap who had his old merc detailed ready for a weeding, He used one of those places which is staffed entirely by a specific nationality.

They where kind enough to use black shoe polish on the leather seats, The bride was not pleased as far as I understand.

So be careful who details your car.

Careful with the tyre black. Very easy to get large black marks on flowing dresses.
You'll notice some wedding cars put a quick cover of the rear tyre to stop this.

Cheers.

geez the things you have to think about when you supply your own cars

I have also been told that it would be a good idea to keep a sewing kit in the car for emergencies, along with esky for champagne, glasses etc etc. It just goes on. But at the end of the day, using 2 of my own/friends cars saves me $1200.

Normally open the bonnet and hook around the bonnet catch. Then each end to the sunvisors.
