Does anyone have a picture of an aussie wind up window/external hinge door card handy? I've found heaps showing the opener/winder end, but I'm more interested in what is going on at the lock end where it's not square.

Thanks

Yes and no :D

I'm going to make some, so that gives me an idea what is going on with the shape around the latch, thanks. minispares also sell the bare cards so those pics are a help too.

Is there any chrome trim across the top of it usually? I have a bunch of extra strips and damned if I know where they're all from.....

i think there's a chrome strip that's on the door that holds the card at the top, other than that i'm not sure.

Yes, there is a chrome strip at top that holds the card. It's rivetted on.
There are 2 metal panel clip thingys in the card at front, and 2 tiny self tapper screws and shaped washers at back.
Mini King has the panel clips new I think. p/no HYA1860.

[edit] for clarity

^^^ What he said. From memory the chrome strip on my K pop rivets onto the door itself, then you slide / flex the door card under it to hold the door card in place, so same effect as you are talking about smac :)

Thanks for all that.

Assuming I have the strips (big assumption at this point), I think I'd get away with one screw down at the bottom rear, in the pocket. Front is held by winder and handle, top by strip....won't shag about with the clips. I am nothing if not quick & dirty....anything more thorough/original would not be in keeping with the rest of the car

If you don't use clips at the front, the card will fall out of the chrome strip- as the winder and door handle holes have lots of clearance.
You could add another screw low down at the front I guess...
