ok, now i have a Rover 1275 Spi and the quoted power output is 50bhp or 63 bhp for coopers. Now is this at the wheels or engine?

i only ask as i just had mine tuned on the rolling road..

At the engine. Not the wheels.
Rolling roads all vary, there are so may ways to fudge their figures..

Well it was running crap over fuelling like hell but I think that was due to wrong ecu... 1275 manual had auto ecu! so haha

Fitted sc typhoon and took it to dyno base cooper map got 40bhp at wheel after open loop tune as closed was not effective got 45bhp at wheels...

So any good??

Depends on the engine age / condition, but I'd have said 45hp at the wheels on a 15 year old engine would be good.

I think IwannaMini's Rover 1275 SPI automatic got around 30HP ATW at the ausmini dyno day in Sydney.
It takes a damn good 1275 stockie to get 45HP ATW, we had some Cooper Ss only getting that.

power is overrated and or relative.. otherwise we'd all own 6 cylinders or V8s...

mine (1275 manual, carb, cam etc etc) ran 39 kw at the wheels (53 horses). i'd like to believe it but that dyno has always been known in Radelaide as a generous one.. so a grain of salt is included.

I'd like to know what mine is doing and more importantly check the tune / set up. Any suggestions of where to take the little bugger in Melbourne pref SE suburbs with a rolling road that understands minis?

Well I did mine purely for correct nice sweet running...

The standard ecu wasn't playing so an aftermarkety one was brought and I just wanted to be content knowing it was setup.... For engine life reasons if nothing else!

At the Aumsini Dyno Day we held in Geelong most of the 1275's were in the fifties at the wheels or beyond.

The two SPi cars we had that day were 48hp and 42hp.

(My bog stock 1600cc Beetle achieved 44hp at the wheels.)

Regards,
