A friend with a hot rod has a lot of different switches on the dash (and other places) You need the switches in the right order to start the car.

He has a key switch on the with the key in it. If someone gets in the car and turns the key they get a shock.

Yeah lets give the crook the shits so he burns your car to the ground!
I didn't say what happened to give him a shock, but it will attract attention and the crook won't be hanging around to cause any more trouble.

I'm in the middle of rewiring my mini. Im disconnecting the key switch and having it all operated by a rolling code remote. Plus all the usual kill switches, GPS tracking etc etc. Ill leave the key switch in place anyway just to serve as a mightily annoying decoy.

Leave the key in it and hook it to the horn.

Or maybe connect it with the battery cutoff switch , that would be a laugh , or one better the alarm :)

Hows about one of these?

No steering wheel will have them puzzled for ages. They may even hang around to see how you drive it

if you want to buy a quick release buy a proper racing toothed spline setup, the hex ones and ones like that wear out quickly and become unsafe..

at the end of the day, a good (not supercheap auto) alarm with an imobiliser, central locking, and a battery switch, and your mini will be as secure as anything..
