On Sunday I was driving down the motorway towards Newcastle. It was early morning about 6.30 I got as far as the moony moony bridge. As I was going over the bridge I was following this stupid Camry doing about 120 or so. Then all I heard was a huge bang that scared the living daylights out of me. and my howl front windscreen cracked into a spider web from one side to the other. I couldn’t see where I was going and had to pull over. As I was on the side of the road I was looking at my screen and it was still cracking. I was just waiting for it to fall apart. Any way I ended up kicking the front windscreen out. I still went to up near Newcastle. I thought it would be bad but for some reason with all the windows closed in the car. It must pressurize or something because you don’t get much air in the car. Only a thin breeze about 1 inch off the roof. But it was bloody noisy. By the time I got back to Sydney I had a bad headache, so much induction noise ever since I installed the 60mm throttle body and big cams. people looked at me funny and laughed. This guy on a motor bike must of thought I was doing it on purpose cos he was shaking his head at me when he went past, so I tried chasing him.

Any way now I need a screen. Dose any one know where to get one in Sydney for a good price. Or dose any one have a second hand one that’s in ok condition. Really I should put a new one on but im not that hi on cash atm.

Ok any help will be appreciated.

Chris

can't help with a screen, sorry

That was an interesting read. Was your bodywork damaged? What do you think hit your screen?

Bad Luck Chris..... :(

There's a Mini spares place at Seven Hills 9674 7000 - I got both my front and rear glass from them when I was rebuilding my mini they were the cheapest quote for a second hand set I could find in Sydney at the time :)

Strangly enough there is a mini wrecker in Hooker street, Islington (N'castle) and his prices were better but he was too far away for me.
but I don't think he is open on Sundays especially not at 6.30 am

Ok thanks.

Any idea how much one is worth????? New and second hand.

It was a stone that was flicked up from the car in front. Lucky none of the paint work was damaged.

Haha funny story, but tough luck. Does sound like fun though..for the first km or two.. ;)

Mine is all pitted at the moment when I had a handful of rock come flying at my car from a truck on a back road in kangaroo valley.

I believe shannons do a replacement screen for free if your insured with them...1 a year ;) Thinking about taking them up on the offer...you might be able to have mine? It's not that bad, just pitted in a few spots..

Chris is probably the best to chime in on this, anyone had it done? does it include new rubbers? chrome locking strip, NEW glass? or second hand? Installation?...

Chris,
If it shattered all over it must be an early toughened one. Do yourself a favour and fit a Triplex laminated one.. like Cooper S had. Shouldn't be too expensive, for a Mini...

one guy at a set of lights actually came up to me and shoock my hand through the front. And said “its not every day you get to shake a guys had through the front windscreen” lol
