hey,

i currently have Yokohama A048R's - 165/55 R12. i was wondering if there was a optimal tyre pressure to run in the rear tyres. Currently i have 19 PSI in the rear and they still seem quite firm. There is no weight over the back, i don't take people in the rear seat, i don't carry a spare tyre/jack around town, i have a small light weight battery. Is is absurd to run any lower?

Thanks,

Bill

Not sure about 12" wheels but I run 28psi at the front and 26psi at the back, slightly more if going for a high speed freeway run. 19 sounds way too low to me...

32 psi front and 28 psi back is what I recommend , two recommended factory pressures for 3.5x10 and 4.5x10 were 26 front 24 rear and 28 front and 26 rear , I tried on my Mini S the latter but have moved up to 32 front and 28 back and I,m not going to change anytime soon

.

Just cause they look right don't make them right. It's because they have strong sidewalls to prevent rolling over in heavy cornering. I suggest you pump them to at least 25psi

I've always run 32/30 in all my minis

My mechanic runs the same on all of his mini's too!

I run 30/28 around town but that's with 10s. Works for me...

I always put that little bit extra, because I know it will have leaked out by the next day anyway ;)

Well it's up to you hoenstly, it's your car, your tyres and quite possibly your life if you do a corner too quickly and the sidewall collapses resulting in disaster.

All I know is, there is a BIG handling difference between 25psi and 32psi in my car so I'd hate to think what it would handle like on 19psi...

:?

When I first bought my car, I drove it home from sutherland to blacktown on 8psi

I thought it was just the no power steering..
