Thanks Cam, I really appreciate you holding onto them for me. Is this weekend ok??

Also, you never responded to my challenge regarding finishing our conversions together - how about it?

My reins have been severely tightened... Meg has a bun in the oven and we're in the middle of buying our own home up here finally.
And my poor car is still in Sydney, not getting the attention it deserves!
Ohh and the new place dosnt have a shed  at least I get to design and build my own

Them's the rules  we have allowed for a work shed to be built. And if that dosnt happen I have no problem with ripping out a wall and putting a garage door in the side of the house. Just that threat is about enough to build a shed.

Thanks Hallsey, training and teaching will be the key

Oooh, did some more to El Gato this weekend - this is starting to be a habit!!

Decided to shift my attention to the things that need to be finished so I can paint him, and of course the major thing outstanding is a bit of bodywork. The major piece of bodywork outstanding is the front spoiler. So I decided to attack that head on!!

The front spoiler needs to be finished - shaped and profiled to fit the new design front end. This will in fact be a blank. From the blank gets pulled a mould ( a negative), and from the mould gets pulled a moulding which hopefully should be identical to the blank. So I decided to spend the day bogging, sanding, shaping and scraping, to get it just right. Its a huge job, and very labour intensive, but it needs to be done!

Not quite finished, still about 20 hours left in it:

But the curves are all uniform now:

And here is where it fits, for those who have forgotten:

I also decided to get off my lazy arse and go and pick up the intercooler inlet and charge air pipes from Cameron (Cazmo). He has had them for about 12 months now becuase I have been so lazy! Thanks Cam, you are a good mate. Hope to see Cam's Mini on the road one day too!

Well that's about it until mid-week when I will send a few hours finishing off the centre console.

Cheers,
Tricky

Hi Everyone,

Put in a few more hours on the Mini this weekend and made some progress. Got some 3M rust converter to use on the surface rust I have on the shell prior to epoxy priming. The surface rust came about from not priming the metal after sanding it like I did when I was putting on the bodykit and the rear spoiler.

Lesson learnt - always prime the work area at the end of the day if you sand down to the bare metal!! The black stuff on the shell is the converted rust, ready to epoxy prime right over (which will be on next weeks agenda).

Also spent a few more hours on the front spoiler. Probably another 10-12 hours left in it. Progress is very slow - fill, sand, check, fill, sand, check, fill, sand, check etc.

More next week.

Cheers,
Tricky
