picked up a replacement sump guard from a kind Minis in the Gong man for the cost of a slab of black beer and also got Graeme Lord in Fairy Meadow to give my mini a check over to see if any damage was done after my 'mishap' as well as a tune up and carby mixture fix etc - no damage form the runaway T-F

but, it seems my SU carby is apparently not original but off a Triumph or something?! - the needle and spring(?) needs to be dyno tuned to check the needle (??)

it's the same carby that's been on it since we bought it in the mid 90's so I learnt something new about it today

anyone know anything about Mini-Matic specific carbys?

Yeah he was a fair knob. He was making out like he could reject me getting registration but i quickly pointed out the roadworthy certificate is signed by a registered car tester and he shut up. Again, dont know if he is technically correct or not but I dont really see how it is his place to comment.

He needs an ADR to fall back on and your car has to be built after that ADR came in to effect.

The guy is a knobjockey. Tell him to jog on or find yourself another tester.

I had an uppity RTA guy refuse to renew my license once because all my other ID (passport, bankcards etc) has a hyphen in my surname but the RTA is without the hyphen. Same name, same birthdate, same photo etc. I just drove to the next suburb and got it done within 5 minutes by a non-F%*wit.

I once tried to pull the manager of an RTA motor registry over the counter by his shirt but his shoulders got caught in those silly plastic screens.

Fitted the door handles, locks and window mechanism into both doors, and they both shut and lock very nicely, even with new rubber seals.

There may have been a reason, Just because minis where built before ADRs doesn't mean they are exempt from being roadworthy. the ADR exemption is intended for the cars to remain in original condition. Not be a free for all for modifications.

If it was one of those $20 ebay/autotechnica wheels he way have had a leg to stand on as Chinese build quality should not be relied on for something as important as steering.

Even if it doesnt have to meet ADR requirements it should at least meet ISO9000 if not for your sake for the sake of other road users.

I may sound cynical but Ive seen far too many death traps on our roads not to be.
Although there's equal chance he was just a dick.

Good to see you are wearing an approved antistatic wrist strap and are standing on an anti static mat.

Replaced the interior light with an original 850 base (that has been wrapped up in tissue paper in a box in the shed for ages), polished and vacuumed, scraped the PITA expired rego sticker off the window (no it wouldn't just peel off  ) and polished up a whole bunch of chrome in preparation for MATM tomorrow! :D

took it for a good spin and loved it - I lugged my full drum kit in it yesterday, much to the amused looks on a copper's face at the lights!

the old 68 Mini Matic also even took off other cars at the lights several times today, she's driving better than ever, just gotta get that replacement sump guard I scored bolted back on soon

Now I have another job
Then came home and fitted the new windscreen
Very tight but it's in now and looking good
Hope to fit the rear window tommorrow
