I have noticed varied performance from my everyday driving depending on which servo I've filled up from

I'm basically using unleaded 95 with me adding the added valve treatment squirt

are there any favoured se4rvos and are there any to avoid at all costs?

ie BP, Shell, United, Caltex etc etc?

My mini runs best on caltex. But the head has been converted for straight unleaded.

Shell normally gets the thumbs up. We tend to use 98 in our minis and from shell it is great. The last few times we have used BP we got some really dodgey fuel that caused the car to backfire and miss.

I use the local United servo at the end of my road and sometimes it's great, but filled up yesterday with uleaded with the squirt on the way to work and have noticed a deffo difference in performance since - ie lacking

should I just go for the premium?

I use Shell 98 or BP 98. I used to use Caltex 98 until one day I got a bad fill, and the car ran like a dog on the way home- missing, farting, pinging...
Refilled it with BP 98 and all good again.

I reckon the Caltex I got was 91 or E10, how to tell? all Caltex fuel is the same damned colour now!
It must be tempting for dodgy servo operators or fuel distributors to stick the wrong fuel in the 98 tank.. and make another 15c+.

I only use BP Ultimate, 98 , anything else and it runs like a busted ar$e.
I remember reading quite some time ago that Caltex were bringing out a 100 octane fuel,
albeit i have never seen it, i thought that maybe it would only be available in the metro areas but i have never come across it .

seeing as my preferred servo is about to be overtaken by BP, guess I'll be using the BP 98 or going up th eroad slightly to the S(Hell) 98

ive tried shell in mine but she hates it. Really lacks in take off power and when some smart arse in a pulsar or similar wants a drag at the lights its hopless compared to caltex fuel.

I have a BP, Shell, United and Caltex within 5 k's or so - ie central Wollongong

I now only use the shell at the top of crown street and use 98. Or the servo in gwnneville opposite wiseos.

I kept getting mixed results from the BP and the united opposite was so bad one time that I had to drain the tank completely.

Oh and the one at flatland in fairy meadow seems to be ok. I have filled up there once or twice lately.

will reluctantly give the shell a go, but the Gwynneville one is close by too so will try and get by there when running low

ran shell ultra with a shot of booster , then ran half and half av gas, much better

I suggest a bit of research. Let it run low then buy $5 from 1 servo and see how it goes with that, then $5 from another and so on. Won't take long to find the best.

Here in Adelaide i like the smaller servos like Liberty provided they aren't an ethanol blend, get good power and economy from a 98 octane.

In the Brisbane area there is only two refineries and nearly all the petrol of all types & brands come from those two refineries.

One is owned by BP, the other Caltex. Everything else is just marketing....
