Something strange i noticed on my GT today.

Cruising around town, everything is fine, but rev it out to about 4k and the charge light flashes on and stays on till about 4200/4300 (hard to tell cause tacho jumps round the place) then turns back off, then back off the pedal and let the revs drop gets into the range comes on then off again.

It only comes on in a certain rev range somewhere 3800- 4000, 3900-4100 something round there

Its an internally regulated 15AC alternator that was tested a few months by an auto spaky and it was fine.

Havnt checked the cables to or from the alternator yet, but i suppose it could be the harmonics/vibrations from the motor in that rev range that affect it?

Thanks Brenton

This is an early symptom of the brushes being worn out.
Most Lucas alternators (with the plastic end cover) have the brushes in the end housing. These can be removed easily, even in the car.
They are not expensive.
If the alternator has no plastic end cover you are out of luck- these ones need stripping to replace them.
