Got a call from Larry from Minispares today, the owner Andrew from Melbourne closed the business as of today. I'm personally gutted as it's the place I shopped for my parts and Larry and Tony are great mates with two lifetimes of mini experience between them.

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.

yeah, he's out croydon way now, number's still the same.. i helped him move ALOT of stuff, most of the stuff that was tossed was either junk or stuff that has never sold, there was masses of parts that were taken off old minis when they were stripping them and should have been throwen out 15years ago.. there was only really two items i saw get tossed that i wish i'd had the cash to grab... one was an 850 shell... had been in the shop for more than a decade and had never really got any interest and the other was a pile of inner engine bay guards that were nos, maybe a dozen, mostly clubman... either way, pretty much everything i saw get tossed wasn't all that sellable to begin with..
but yeah, he's still around, he's still got tons of stuff and he's more than happy to sell it.

Which one was Mini Spares? They all have similar names and equivalent names in the UK - I can't remember which is which.

Ye, I didn't know we had a minispares in Sydney :?

I'd say Karcraft (The Daddy) were too competitive.

Out at Padstow. Too far south/west for you.

ohrly?

I actually bought parts from them once - they had a very nifty old green and black screen computer system connected to a dot matrix printer. I was in love. Sad to hear it. I think I have had a rant though in other threads about businesses which refuse to innovate and adapt - they never had an online presence or an online ordering/catalogue system. I'm all for local service and immediate availability - a drive to Padstow is much easier and more convenient than waiting for parts to arrive from England - but without an online shop or catalogue they were fighting an uphill battle, strong aussie dollar or no.

But again, sorry to hear it. Web developing Mini enthusiasts should offer these businesses a free e-commerce website in exchange for parts and service of an equivalent value.

"No Website" seems to translate in to "Business Closure and Sending Parts to the Tip" so these businesses have nothing to lose.

Until Andrew bought it, it was called Mini Car Clinic, was at 80 Gibson Ave, Padstow. Paul Skinner owned it originally. [edit] I had typed John Skinner, my bad...
John Smidt was there for quite a while too, until he went to Narellan and resurrected Mini Kingdom as Mini King.

I spoke to John at the GDO 2 years ago about my car and the 12G295 I,m using with Rimflow 1100 valves , I got them from MiniSpares and he remembered ordering them a very long time ago , he said the ones I got were probably the last ones in Australia and he thought at that stage they might be NLA
