hello all.

quick questions from me:
Moose has the original Smiths gauges but the temp gauge does not work so someone has put a stand alone temp gauge mounted under the dash. This is the one that is wired to just below the thermostat housing on the block.

my question is: is it worth getting the original one fixed (the oil pressure and speedos work) or is the after market one likely to be more accurate and so we should stick with that?

thanks all

Deb :D

What model car is Moose?, it could be a simple fix.

Forget that question, i just had a look and found out that its a mini k . It could be that the
original gauge is knackered, these are readily available , they often come up on ebay.
Does your fuel gauge work ok ?, reason i ask is that both these gauges are powered
by a small tin cannister on the back of the speedo , which is called a voltage stabiliser and these can often die at any time, ( old age , mainly ). Check around the back of the speedo to make sure there are no wires off it .
