Youtube Hayabusa Cappucino Donnington Park. Man that thing goes well and in the 7 minutes of vid the driver doesn't look to be "fighting" it at all. It looks well sorted.

JC,

Have you decided on the architecture yet???

Are we talking longitudinally, front mounted engine and RWD???

Yep. That's the plan. If I had a rear subframe here or even just the trailing arms I could get my neighbour here to build the custom rear arms for me.

Though I am torn. I'm contemplating a mini tech style frame that utilizes all the gtir upper a lower control arms and that would enable the use of the hubs.

That would only then require shortening the shafts to the correct length then make the frame using the mini subfrane to car mounting position, the gtir diff mounts and gtir suspension arms.

The downside to that is that it is very unlikely that I could use a 10" wheel, which I want to do.

It's in my head, I'll try and draw it.

So these are the options Ive come up with. If anyone has some alternatives please contribute. I am not an engineer, I just like visualising things.

Option 1
This retains the majority of the factory gtir components.

Option 2
This "looks and acts" like a mini subframe that houses the diff. The custom components are the trailing arm/hub/brake mount and the cradle that locates/positions the diff.

The benefit of this option is that the trailing arm is custom made so that the wheel retains its factory position in the wheel weel (centered on the wheel well, up and down movement of the shock is in line with how its meant to be). Im concerned with utilising the factory gtir suspension that the bottom arm that mounts to the hub and goes forward to the front of the cradle may protude beyond the "opening" in the boot floor for the mini subframe.

Edit:
Actually, I've never thought about this before but wouldn't the fact mounting of the rear trailer arm cuase the wheel to move on a "pivot"? I mean as the wheel rises and falls it swings on a curved plan rather than straight up and down. That would have to mess with suspension geometry wouldn't it?
