I've seen people rivet them etc ... How have some of you guys fixed it up? Front and back of radiator isn't connected

You can see in the pic my radiator bracket is missing just took it off. Don't worry bout that.

Common for the solder to let go...and rivets. I used shortened SS bolts/nuts which I Locktited.

Solder lasted bout a week last time but that was because the shroud was flaring away from the radiator it's coming out today and I'll straighten it up nice and flush & try somethInv else.

Solder will hold it as long as it is done right.

That radiator lookes like the UK 3 core? They are too damned thin and they crack there.
Oz radiators are thicker have copper rivets through that lap joint but not these puppies.. I soldered mine back up and sold it.

re the Oz radiators, the copper rivets are hard to find now. When the rivets broke on mine recently I replaced them with 3mm hex head screws and nuts. I Loctited the nuts on ...

Do radiator places paint the fins after a clean?

Yes they paint the whole thing with a thin coat of black paint..

With summer alleged to be coming, it would be a good idea since the radiator is coming out to have the radiator place take off the two tanks and have them rod out the cores.

This removes the build up of gunk and gives you a free flowing radiator. A mini only needs 10% loss of flow to have overheating problems on hot days.

When you take a rad in to a shop for reco, this is what they do normally for their $50 - $100. They also pickle the core and tanks in acid to clean them.
I agree, just using a cleaner at home then flushing the radiator doesn't cut it.

Thanks doc & mike last time I sent it in was about 3 years ago . From looking at my radiator a lot of the problem is crud & buildup on the fins engine side. The fan is also fairly chewed out from the shroud missalignment etc.

This could also be caused by not having good mounting grommets to absorb the vibrations from the motor. Check the GROMMETS, they are there for a reason.
