hi, a question........
if the ignition is left on for 5 mins, should any of the wires get hot?
not melting the plastic hot, but pretty hot.
would this indicate there is too much load on this wire rather than a short? or is this pretty normal?

i should add it is one of the wires going into the steering column (not sure which one) on a 1988 mayfair

Probably. The looms in the UK cars are quite spindly and light on for gauge. They rate theirs at a 20 deg ambient, where as the Ozzy stuff is rated at 40 deg ambient.
