I used welded diffs in both the Anglia and Cortina sports sedans. Its a slightly different driving technique to get the nose to tuck in when entering a corner at speed but it worked okay in its day.
But its a pig when you are trying to manourve the car in the pits or around the garage areas.
I remember a mini sports sedan driver with a locked diff in front of me and the uni joint let go at speed. It was a wild ride for both me and him as none of us close by knew exactly where he was going to finish up.
From memory, it wasa pretty experienced driver called Palle Johanson.
