I have a 67 Deluxe with the original rubber floor mats still intact and i would like to keep them that way. So the plan is to buy carpet and put the rubber mats away to protect them while i still enjoy driving the car.

Question: Is it possible to find pre-cut new carpet that is light blue in colour to match the interior? If so, whereabouts? (I want to keep the original look of the interior)

I have started my search but it mainly seems like red or black.

Buy their classic loop pile, it is worth the extra $$.
And note if you want to cover the wheel wells you need to buy extra bits.
The price on their site is just for a front + a rear.

if you are storing your rubber mats, store them somewhere they can lie flat

Don't fold them in half, they will just split when you try and unfold them!

Have you tried John at Mini King for carpet ?, not sure of colour variety though .

Also , i seem to recall someone on here was looking for a good set of vinyl mats to make a copy of , can't remember who .
The other thing , i'd be very careful as to how you are going to store the original mats
as they will be probably be very brittle and would tear easily .

Use a good dusting of talc powder between the mats in storage - helps stop them going tacky and sticking together

Thanks all. Will be looking into those ideas. I am hoping to spend less than the $1000 mark although i understand the need for paying for quality. Also keep the tips coming on how to store the rubber/vinyl floor mats.

Cheers

Seriously, unless it's a show car I'd buy off the roll from the local auto upholsterer. Cut it yourself, take it back to them to have it bound. Should be couple hundred tops, and that will mostly be the binding.

Just my 10c

OK, so continued research with all of your advice.

minisports.co.uk is well out of my price range and correct, it isnt a show car.

knox auto carpets appear to have the same products as all car carpets although they are $20 dearer. (280 compared to 260)

all car carpets will sell me a sample of the carpet colour for $12 but are wanting to charge $35 to post it to me!

I suppose i am just stuck on making sure i choose the best colour although they show up differently on different computers. I guess that both of these products are bound and will fit pretty snuggly.

anything else i should know about putting carpet in????
