Curious... When did the change from BMC to BLMC/British Leyland occur? As mentioned in my previous post, my car's ID plate is dated 4/70, and the plate is prominently headed with British Leyland Motor Corp.

It was a long drawn out process. Leyland took over in April 68.
The first "Leyland" named cars were in March 73.
In between they changed one thing at a time.

As Morris says and based on my observations of various factory publications produced around this time they used up available stock so there wasn't a precise date when the re-branding of all publications occurred.

The funny thing is that the Mini K started life under Leyland ownership but they still used the BMC name on the cars handbooks when the cars were released.
They had started using the Leyland logo in Mini advertising in early 69 well before the K was released.

Thanks.

it's a unique Australian model, even the round badge on the front is different to the same style round badge found on some UK models

I know much about that round badge. I've been looking for one for a year. I finally found one on ebay Germany. Had to pay 70 USD for it which isn't a bad price considering I saw one sell for about 200 USD on ebay UK.

late reply here Bruno - that badge you got from Germany isn't the right one for your Australian car. It would have (if I recall) a two step gold ridge around the outside, ours didn't have that :D

Even if the badge I bought isn't correct, it's close enough and will have to do for now. It replaces the Morris Cooper badge that was up front. Now I won't have to explain that my car is really not a Cooper.
Do you (or anybody else) have a pic of an original badge?

no, but I'll take some

it's a very pedantic difference, and I'd seriously doubt even an ardent Mini K restorer would spot it, but still - it's there
