Round two of "what wheel will fit" :

Cosmic 5x10 - no
Performance (Aus made) 5x10 - yes
New Minilights 5x10 - yes
New Mamba 6x10 -yes (But will need huge flares)

With all of these any balance weights placed inside the rim will foul on the calipers.

Had a chat with my next door neighbour who owns a tyre place, he suggested that with the large flat edge and the size of the outer flange on the newer type's of wheels he would try stick on weights on the outer flat edge or the old style of (hammer on) weight on the flange - but only for the inside weighting. He told me none of his balance machines will adjust down to 10 inch wheels though so he can't try one out for me.

it's become that way with the big tyre places because they all buy machines that work with the stupid 18" low profile tyres that people think are so good...

if you go to one of the little guys they still have machines that do sensible size tyres. They need them for boat trailers etc. My local place even has 10" tubes in stock for that purpose.

After years of balancing 10x5" Mini mags I find the best way is 1 row of weights only, in the middle behind the spokes.
Trying to dynamically balance these tiny things with both inner and outer weights is a waste of time, as well as being unsightly.
I've had no out of balance wheels since I started doing this about 10 years ago. Recommended by my tyre fitter mate.

How do you plan on doing that? They can only bolt up one way and that wouldn't get a 10" on it.

For those that run a metro Brake setup in 7.9" form ...The Rotor get turned down to 7.9 inches and the holes in the caliper get slotted to allow the caliper to move inward , some get a piece machined and pressed in and some are just slotted .. either way with the dollar as good as it is at the moment just buy some new calipers ..

i agree, its only about 350 bucks or something for a set of calipers, rotors and pads in 7.9" form.. and i think theyre better engineered for the mini then the metro ones.. single hose, non crap soggy pedal..

Dunno about that pedal comment. The aftermarket alloy calipers use the same size pistons as the metro calipers, so logic suggests they''d feel pretty much the same.

In my experience the cast iron metro callipers are more rigid and provide a better brake feel than the cast alloy callipers. I have 1999 vintage minispares 4-pots. Same piston sizes and both cars had braided lines.

I can't comment on the more modern machined from solid alloy callipers but suspect the metros would still be more rigid and therefore give a firmer pedal at the expense of weight.

They aren't that heavy anyway, they aren't all that far from stock 8.4s.

I have had a set of the minisport 4pot calipers inside the standard cooper s offset wheels. So my view is they do fit.

I've got the Minispares 4 pot caliper setup (non vented). They are currently under a set of 10x6 original Mambas, the caliper had to be relieved a little with an angle grinder as it fouled slightly. Yes, you need to use large flares.
I also had some 10x4.5 rosepetals and they'll fit but only if you use the additional spacer they came with.

No booster, brake pedal is firmer than single piston 7.5" but I'm very happy with the feel.
