Sorry its for twin tanks on a cooper s replica so the cooper s style.

It currently has aftermarket lockables but I'd like to go back to the original no keylock type.

Thanks.

Really? How did they differ?

Im not a cooper s pro, but i assume that the cooper s ones were the same as Gt ones. The centre of the cap protrudes a little from the outer. Where as a lot of other caps are just smoth all over.

The ones i see most common are (i assume are deluxe ones, but believe are 850 ones):

the ones on my GT (which i believe are the same as cooper s) look like these: (borrowed from slockos S from members mini gallery)

Cooper S ones cost five times as much.

Cooper S tank cap = AYA5074
All saloon models except Cooper S = AYA5074
Clubman, Mini 1100 = AYA5074
Clubman GT = AYA5074

Yeah that's what I remember too. My mate's original `66 S had the same caps as my `61 850.

It may have been the source that was different, perhaps the caps came from the UK with the right hand tanks and the rest of the Cooper components??

Where did the flat ones come from then??

Cause the risen centre ones are correct for GT's and i always believed were correct for cooper s's.

So your saying ALL mini's (roundies) came with the risen centre caps as per the white mini above?

Well i just checked a clubman parts manual and it appears the clubman vans had a different cap AYA5075

I always believed they were non cooper s roundy caps. Thats why i need to buy a roundy to learn these things

My Mini K book says the K one was a AYA5074, as Morris said.
I doubt the Cooper S one of the same vintage (Mk2) would be different.

that's what I've always thought, but only from looking at cars, never researching.... but then maybe since they don't lock, every one of them got pinched!

I don't think BMC thought Cooper S's were special enough to warrant their own special fuel filler cap - any differences to standard cars were by necessity rather than exclusivity
