G'day
Just wondering it is necessary to fit an angled front panel brace (like on an 's') if i fit an oil cooler, and if so could any one tell me where exactly to fit the brace and it's dimensions
cheers nathan

You really do need a brace, if you leave it off, the slam panel has all the rigidity of a wet paper bag.
I cut my std one off at the bottom, notched it up near the top and bent it sideways, then extended the bottom with part of another and welded it back on.

if you're desperate, you can actually buy an angled brace

You can buy the angle brace from Minisport or Minispares UK, which I did and then fitted to my recent project. I temporarily fitted my oil cooler to work out where to fit the brace as it just misses the right hand side of the cooler, when looking from the front.
I have found the latest front aprons being supplied really need this brace as the metal is so thin but on my S which was restored in 1992/3 the metal must have been thicker as I have no brace on it.

Haven't had a brace fitted for 20 years - doesn't seem to matter.

Cheers, Ian
