Given that NZ and Aus have both been pretty much screwed over in the 12" tyre department, I have seen a few people are ordering in direct from the UK. Most seem to mention the Yoko A539 165/60/12, however I see they also do the A048R in a 55 series.

Given that the 55 is a closer match to 145/70/10, any ideas on why it doesn't seem to be discussed? Price?

The A539 is a great road tire that offers plenty of grip and great longetivity. They are also cheaper than the 48's.

The A048's are basically a semi slick. There a really soft rubber so they won't last to long but they are simply a brilliant tire. The grip they offer is phenomenal in both wet and dry. So yes the 48's are the superior tire but wouldn't recommend them on a daily as they would wear out way to quick. But don't think the 539's are bad by any means they are also a great tire.

Ya I know what the 48's are, currently running Dunlop R's on 10's.

I'm guessing it's kind of a bang for buck thing. Importing is expensive, so why add to the pain...48's are 30pound more than the 539's....
