I have a couple of Mini publications weighing about 5 kg that need to be shipped from the UK. The companies I've looked at are very expensive.
Does anyone have any experience of a good option, including surface mail?
What company do Minisport and the other parts suppliers use?

Thought Parcelforce was a subsidiary of Royal Mail

I've found all freight and even postage out of the UK quite expensive. Post wanted 100 quid to post out a set of extractors!

All my freight from Minisport UK has been DHL and has been reasonably priced. By that I mean, it's still cheaper than me buying it from others over here and that's for 2-4 day express delivery as well.

I think you will find Minisport has a contract with DHL which enables them to keep the price down.
Same as Aussie freight companies who will charge an individual almost 4 times what a company can get

I had a guy wrap a set just in bubble wrap, and it cost "only" 50 dollars to post. from the UK.

If time is not a factor, look into shipping a shipping crate/box. and you can bung some other stuff in there too, assuming there's space

Last couple of times we moved stuff over from UK, the first crate was about 50gbp and subsequent ones in the same consignment were 40gbp, so not necessarily cheap but on a weight/volume vs value for money, it's worthwhile. Takes between 8-13 weeks depending on a few factors.

Often these sorts of things are also advertised as Excess Baggage shipping, cos that's the sort of thing they also do.

Thanks for all the tips. I think the sender in the UK has found a shipper who will send the parcel for GBP40. I won't know who the company is until the parecl arrives.

... gulp ! Or should that read "... IF the parcel arrives!!"
