I might buy this servo, but only if I can source a rebuild kit for it and not have it end up costing more than I can get one of the new Bosch replica units for. (176 Pounds or around $271 AUD from Minispares)

This is the servo he is selling which was supposedly rebuilt 10 years ago. It was removed and stored for several years with old fluid left inside and seals are swollen. Diaphragms were replaced during the rebuild and are still good.



Is there a good source for rebuild parts (only need the fluid seal parts)?

If it has been rebuilt and just sitting idle, then you will probably only need the Hydraulic Seal Kit and Gaskets

You can get by without the main large diaphragm. It will be simply buggered or not.
Before you order the parts it would be a good idea to take the back end apart (simple) to check the condition of the chrome Piston Push Rod. If the hard chrome plating on the pushrod has lifted you will need to pick up another one.
Don't take apart the air control valve if you don't have to. It is delicate and expensive! Lift the cover and check the condition, don't try and peel it back from the lower cover. It will probably tear.

Thanks! I contacted JLspares and they didn't give me prices except for their full rebuild process. I wasn't sure what servo I had, so this helps a lot!

Hydroboost hasn't returned e-mails.

I'll get the seal kit from JL as that's what the seller said I would only need as well.

It was known back then as a Lockheed 5-1/2". We never got the later Lockheed ones over here, our Mk2s got a `PBR' VH44J (Made in Oz) instead.

I have been told that NBS Brake Supplies in Victoria ,do a very good job restoring to better than new condition . I am going to send my MK1 booster to them shortly ,when I get it off the car .Will let you know how it goes

Hi Kevin, as this booster is here in the US and I don't know if it came off a British built Mini, Australian or-? is there another way to tell what it is? Does the 5 1/2 refer to the length of the cast cylinder body? I don't know how to identify these things just by looking:?

I think I'm going to take the gamble and buy it and get the seals and see how it goes. If it turns out I need to have it sleeved, there are some California sources that can do this, and I wouldn't have to ship it overseas.

5-1/2" is the diameter of the servo piston.
There was also a 6" Lockheed (later I think?) but it wasn't used on these cars.
